reading passage and objective test. (STANDARD RL.1-5)
Success Criteria: Students will show mastery on the test by answering at
least 41 out of 50 questions correctly.

flirtation
“Mrs. Bogle who was many times a
grandmother, but had a blushing air of coquetry about her that cloaked her
sunken cheeks” (Hurston 69).
Student Learning Objective: To draw parallels between Janie’s experiences and those
observed in the Rita Dove poems. (STANDARD RL.1, RL.2)

will show mastery by locating and analyzing three common traits between Janie
and the speaker in the poems.
