American Literature Lesson

Objective: To
review the main characters of Death of a Salesman and their
relationships and conflicts with each other by identifying who says what. (STANDARD
RL.1-2)
Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by placing quotations onto
character posters accurately.
Agenda:
1.
SSR – 20 min
2.
Review Death
of a Salesman
a.
“Who said it?” posters
– group project – 40 min
i.
You will find 3-4
quotations from the play in your envelope.
Please determine who said them, then tape each quotation to the
corresponding poster.
ii.
When all quotations
have been taped, get into five groups (groups of 4-5). Ms. Koger will assign each group a poster to
look over. Please ensure that each
quotation belongs on that poster. (HINT:
The number in the bottom right of each poster is the number of quotations that
should be on the poster.)
iii.
If your group thinks
the poster is correct, pass your poster to the next group, so they can review
the lines spoken by that character.
Continue passing posters around to each group until each group has
reviewed all posters.

the novel in a one hour graded class discussion. (STANDARD RL.1, SL.1)
Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by contributing
relevant comments and reading relevant passages to earn a minimum of 15 points.
Agenda:
1. One hour graded class discussion – 60-ish min
2. Quick lesson on MLA Works Cited page – 10 min
3. Student work time. Paper due at the end of class
tomorrow. – 20 min
Assessment: Socratic Seminar
Homework: Literary Analysis
over Their Eyes Were Watching God due tomorrow at the end of the
block.
