Objective: To analyze multiple interpretations of a story (text versus movie), evaluating how each version interprets the source text. (STANDARD RL.7)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by being able to retell the events leading up to the climax in Chapter 7 and the resolution at the end of Chapter 8.

Agenda:
1.      SSR for 20 min, followed by 5 min of a notebook entry (write about what your read) = 25 min
2.      Watch scenes from the movie, covering Chapters 6-7 -    min
3.      Continue reading Gatsby Chapter 8.  Be prepared to discuss the conflict resolution tomorrow! 
4.      Any leftover time can be used to read Choice Novel #2/begin Annotated Bib #2, due Friday.

Assessment: Class discussion, to be held Thursday.

Vocabulary Word-of-the-Day: denounce (verb): to condemn publicly; to make a formal accusation against

Student Learning Objective: To draw parallels between bildungsroman characters Janie from Their Eyes Were Watching God and Sylvia from “A White Heron.” (STANDARD RL.1, RL.2)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by comparing the maturation process of both lead characters.
