Vocabulary Word-of-the-Day: coquetry (noun): the behavior or arts of flirtation

sunken cheeks” (Hurston 69).

draw parallels between Janie’s experiences and those observed in the Rita Dove
poems and/or “Girl.” (STANDARD RL.1, RL.2)

will show mastery by locating and analyzing three common traits between Janie
and the speaker in the poems.
