American Literature Lesson

Objective: To locate and analyze the Romantic characteristics within “Dr. Heideggar’s Experiment.” (STANDARD RL.1, RL.9, L.1)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by locating Romantic characteristics within the text.

Agenda:
1.      Notebook #19 – 15 min
2.      1st block only: “Romanticism Notes” from Notes Packet – 10 min
3.      Read from textbook: “Dr. Heideggar’s Experiment” – 45 min
4.      EXIT SLIP: p. 208, Writing Options #3: Look back at the description of Heideggar’s study. Jot down words and phrases from this selection that create a dark, mysterious, or supernatural atmosphere.
5.      Grammar Notes #9 with practice quiz – 15 min
6.      Discuss Divergent Chapters 27-28 – 15 min

Assessment: EXIT SLP p. 208 #3

Homework: Divergent Chapters 29-31 p. 378-407

3.      Data Sheet TCP and Hamlet
4.      And special guest, Mrs. Vernon, with some follow up about the AP Exam – at 10:30
