American Literature Lesson
7 November 2019

Objective: To develop and strengthen writing as needed by editing and revising. (STANDARD W.5)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by peer editing 2 student essays using the UST and having peer review conversations.
  
Agenda:
1.      Notebook #18 – 10 min
2.      Type up claim and body paragraphs of rough draft (feel free to add more to it if you have time) – 25 min
3.      Peer review:
a.       Find your groupmates by color
b.      Find your member number (in the corner)
c.       “Share” with your groupmates what you typed of your rough draft through Google
d.      Read, evaluate, using the UST rubric, and discuss group member #1’s draft – 12 min
e.       Read, evaluate, using the UST rubric, and discuss group member #2’s draft – 12 min
f.        Read, evaluate, using the UST rubric, and discuss group member #3’s draft – 12 min
4.      Continue reading Chapters 22-24 or revising rough draft - 20 min

Homework: Divergent Chapters 22-24, p. 282-315

Student Learning Objective: (1) To continue to analyze the internal and external conflicts in Hamlet. (2) To analyze multiple interpretations of a play (written word versus performed). (STANDARDS RL.1, RL.7)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by summarizing the events of ACT to a table partner.

Agenda:
1.      Watch ACT II-III of movie – 45 min
2.      Read ACT IV p. 86-99 – 20 min
3.      Watch ACT III, iv-ACT IV, iii

Assessment: Oral class discussion

Homework: Reread ACT IV, as needed; Prepare ACT summary to be used on test.
