Objective: (1) To continue the study of Poe, particularly comparing and contrasting the murderers’ regrets in “Cask of Amontillado” and “The Tell Tale Heart.” (2) To prepare for upcoming Divergent assessments (review, test, socratic seminar, and paper) (STANDARD RL.1-2)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by filling in the spreadsheet (EXIT SLIP) to use as a resource for a later writing assignment and being prepared for Monday's class review.

Agenda:

1.      SSR – 20 min

2.      Read aloud: “The Tell Tale Heart” – 30 min

3.      Divergent work time:

a.       Review sheet (due Monday, beginning of class)

b.      Socratic Seminar Questions (be prepared for Wednesday's class discussion)

Assessment: Spreadsheet (EXIT SLIP), Divergent materials

Homework: Divergent Chapters 38-39, p. 473-487
