American Literature Lesson

Objective: (1) To write arguments to support claims, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence and (2) To develop and strengthen writing as needed by revising. (STANDARD W.1 W.5)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by satisfying the requirements on the argument rubric.  (Line #5 only requires two quotations for this first argument essay.)

Student work time - final draft due at the end of the block - 90 min

Homework: Divergent Chapters 25-26, p. 316-338

Student Learning Objective: (1) To continue to analyze the internal and external conflicts in Hamlet. (2) To analyze multiple interpretations of a play (written word versus performed). (STANDARDS RL.1, RL.7)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by summarizing the events of ACT to a table partner.

Agenda:
1.      Continue reading Hamlet, p. 100-129 or as far as we can get – 90 min

Assessment: Oral class discussion

Homework: Reread ACT IV, as needed; Prepare ACT summary to be used on test.
