Objective: (1)
To use the mentor text as a model for your own writing. (2) To build
relationships while reviewing the eight parts of speech. (STANDARD
RL.1, W.3, L.5.a)
Success Criteria: (1)
Students will show mastery by changing the content of the passage but keeping
the structure. (2) Students will show mastery by placing at least three words
correctly in each box and sharing with a table partner.

Icy describing a fever – 20 min

Ice Breaker Activity – 30 min
4. If
time remaining, “shop” for a choice novel (due Friday at the beginning of class)
Assessment: Correctly
Place three words in each parts of speech box (and be prepared to present to
class tomorrow).
Homework: Select a Choice Novel by Friday
