Objective: (1) To prove your knowledge of the eight parts
of speech. (2) To continue to brainstorm stories we have to tell. (STANDARD
L.2, W.5)
Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by (1) passing
Grammar Quiz #1 with a 70%+, and (2) brainstorming at least a dozen stories
worth telling.

2. Time to read IR #1! (Conferences about reading
habits and interests) - 20 min
a. Time to Read FOCUS: Locate a beautifully
crafted/worded phrase, sentence, or paragraph – Record in NOTEBOOK on page 81
(Lovely Lines) – 5 min
b. Share with a table partner – 2 min
3. Inner circle/outer circle book talks - 30 sec
per partner - 10 min
4. Notebook entry #2: Extension of "I know it
like the back of my hand" - 10 min
5. Ice Breaker Presentations - 15 min
6. OPEN NOTES Grammar Quiz #1 - 15 min
7. Use remaining time to read IR book/Mrs. O will
check your decorated notebook
