American Literature Lesson

Objective: To examine voices other than the men’s during the Revolutionary Literary Period. (STANDARD RL.9, RI.9)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by analyzing the differences between Abigail Adams’ voice and Sally Wister’s.

1.      Time to read - 25 min
2.      Notebook #10: Write about the main conflict going on in your book.  Predict how it will be resolved. – 10 min
3.      Read Women in the Revolution – 30 min
a.       Study Guide - 10 min
b.      Abigail Adams “Letters from the Homefront” - 10 min
c.       Sally Wister “An Adolescent’s Wartime Diary” - 10 min
4.      With table partner, prepare Study Guide for Unit Test #1 (page 3 of Notes Packet)

Assessment: Table partner discussions

Homework: 20 min IR #2; Prepare for upcoming UNIT TEST (Friday)
