Objective: To be introduced to the characteristics of the Puritan Literary Period. (STANDARD RL.9, RI.9)

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by having a table partner discussion before the lesson regarding prior knowledge of the Puritan Period and after the lesson to check for understanding.
  
Agenda:
1.    SSR – 20 minutes
2.    Answers to Grammar Quiz #1 (re-quiz if necessary) – 5 min
3.    Puritans and Patriots Clicker Pre-Test – 15 min
4.    “Dreams and Goals” article – 10 min
5.    Prezi: Puritan Literary Period Notes – 20 min

Assessment: Puritans and Patriots Clicker Pre-Test results (to be compared to “Review” results)

Homework: A Decorated Notebook by Tuesday

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by using textual evidence to support a claim.

Agenda:
1.      PRIDE - 5 min
2.      Poem – read it and predict its title – 10 min
3.      Read aloud: “Death of the Right Fielder” – 10 min
4.      Discuss RR evidence in short story/personal connections to the text – 10 min
5.      Individually, read “Kubuku Rides” – 30 min
6.      Discuss “Kubuku Rides” using the Reader’s Response Literary Theory – 15 min

Assessment: EXIT SLIP #2: Without getting too personal, what are your personal connections to the text?
