American Literature Lesson

Objective: (1) To prove your knowledge of your choice reading novel in a live interview. (STANDARD SL.1) (2) To research Argument #3 topic, finding a second quality source that answers a question or helps solve a problem. (STANDARD W.7)

Success Criteria: (1) Students will show mastery by earning at least a 45/50 on the choice reading interview rubric. (2) Students will show mastery by locating a second credible source, locating its claim and best evidence to support that claim. 
  
Agenda:
1.      Choice Reading Interviews - 30 min 
a.       (Those who did not interview, need to turn in the 20 questions today)
2.      Independent work time to research for Argument #3 articles - 60 min
a.       Due today: Second source saved, claim and best evidence identified

Assessment: Choice Reading Interviews, second source (claim and evidence)

Homework: Continue to gather information on your Argument #3 topic

Success Criteria: Students will show mastery by producing two thought-provoking, critical analysis blog posts of their literature circle novel.

1.      Discuss novel with group – 20 min
2.      Create and proof-read blogs/Post two blogs by the end of the block – 40 min
3.      Read independently (or collaboratively) – 30 min

Assessment: Two blog posts (21-22)

Homework: Literary Analysis due tomorrow at the end of the block
