Objective: (1) To use the mentor text as a model for your own writing. (2) To build relationships while reviewing the eight parts of speech. (STANDARD RL.5, L.5.a)

Success Criteria: (1) Students will show mastery by changing the content of the passage but keeping the structure. (2) Students will show mastery by placing at least two sentences correctly in each box to share with the class tomorrow.
  
AGENDA:
1.      Syllabus inserts and recap - 5 min
2.      Notebook entry #1: Icy describing a fever - 20 min
3.      Grammar Notes #1 - 30 min
4.      Intro to Grammar Ice Breaker Activity - 5 min
5.      Introduction to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; Read aloud chapter 1 – end of class

ASSESSMENT: Correctly Place two sentences in each parts of speech box (and be prepared to present to class tomorrow).

HOMEWORK: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn p. 1-22
