Objective: To
continue our study of Transcendentalism, focusing on Thoreau’s use of
figurative language, Whitman’s use of free verse, and Dickinson’s use of
figures of speech, off-rhymes, and personifications. (STANDARD RL.4, RL.9,
RI.9)
Success Criteria: Students
will show mastery by locating and analyzing an example of figurative
language in Thoreau’s Walden, free verse in Whitman’s poems, and figures of speech, off-rhymes, and personifications in Dickinson’s poems.
